Event Details

Rules and Regulations

  • All teams will be assigned a cooking spot and may set up on said cooking spot beginning 6:30am Saturday. Check with a Rotary Official for team location.

  • Each team must check in upon their arrival on Saturday morning at the Hospitality Tent. Check in will began at 6:30am. 

  • Water and electricity will be provided for each cooking site. You will need extension cords and hoses for access.

  • Each team will be required to cook 3 Gallons of Chili to be given out to only those people who purchase wristbands. If you intend on feeding your team, please cook additional amounts of Chili to do so. Please do not give Chili away to the general public, this is a fundraiser and they will be able to buy a wristband for $10.00 and taste everyone’s Chili. 

  • No food can be pre-cooked prior to arrival on Saturday February 3rd and all cooking must be done on site of the Hammond\Ponchatoula Sunrisers Rotary Chili Cook-off. Chief cook must attend an 8am Cooks Meeting. Cooking can commence as soon as your space is set up.

  • Each team will be provided with official, bowls and spoons. Your chili is to be distributed in said bowls to persons with wristbands only.

  • Each team will draw for turn in times for their chili entry to the Judges at the Cooks Meeting.

  • Any team caught violating the Chili Cook-Off rules will be disqualified from the contest and would not be considered for any awards.

  • No vehicles or trailers will be allowed in your cooking spot unless it is a cooking trailer and prior notification of said trailer must be communicated prior to the event.

 

Schedule of Events - February 3, 2024

  • 6:30 AM - Team Arrival and Set Up

  • 8:00 AM - Cooks Meeting

  • 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM - Cooking Teams Cook

  • 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM - People's Choice Award Competition and Feed the Public

  • 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM - Judging 

  • 2:00 PM - Awards

  • 2:30 PM - Event Teardown
